Day 15 & 16
Things are very steady at the Accreditation Center as more and more media start to arrive. We are now busy all the time and even have a line-up once in a while. I think with having the set up at the airport, it has taken away a lot of our business, but as they close down at 8:00, any flights that come in later, media usually shows up at our place the next day. I continue to enjoy the volunteering and I have met so many great people it is amazing. I have now gotten several shift gifts including a pin, a stuffed Quatchi, a silver key chain from Birks engraved with Team 2010 and an umbrella. Jen, one of the paid staff was lucky enough to carry the Olympic torch in New Westminster on Tuesday and brought it in to the tent for all to admire and hold. She was so excited to share it with us, and now I can hardly wait to see the torch when it hits Port Moody on Thursday. Shauna brought Nicole into the tent so she could hold the torch as they were on their way to the dress rehearsal of the opening ceremonies. As a volunteer I was allotted 1 free ticket and the option of purchasing another for $50.00. As we are already going to the opening; I gave them to Shauna and Nicole. They have been sworn to secrecy so they won’t spoil it for us on Friday, but they did give it 2 thumbs up.
